Bacteriophage T7 Electron Micrographtail
An electron micrograph of the tail of a t7 bacteriophage, imaged at high resolution. This image was computer-processed using correlation averaging methods. In this method, multiple images are combined mathemat- ically with computers, creating a composite photo which is more accurate than any one photo. The 6 protruding fibrous proteins are responsible for recognizing vul- nerable sites on host cells, thus beginning the infection process. Bacteriophage t7 electron micrographtail

Aids Virus Budding From A T-Lymphocyte
The blue AIDS virus is in the process of budding from a t-lymphocyte. when it separates completely it will be a mature cell. AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is an autoimmune disease which occurs after infection with the hiv virus. The hiv virus attacks cells with t4 antigens the helper t-lymphocytes being the most common victims. since these cells control the other cells involved in cellular immunity the AIDS patient is susceptible to opportunistic infection.
